ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 10, 2010 - In the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009, Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA) held Tool Time, a gathering for church youth groups throughout the state of Michigan. While here, the youth participated in a food-kit packing event in connection with the nonprofit Kids Against Hunger (KAH). During the fall event, the group packed 15,000 meals, and during the spring event, 12,500 meals were packed. Roughly one-third of the food packed went into a warehouse and was stored for disaster relief. Within hours of the earthquake in Haiti, KAH began making arrangements with the United Nations to provide food for the citizens of Haiti. On February 3, a U.S. Navy helicopter delivered the food that was packed at CUAA.

A Michigan resident, who was deployed to assist in the humanitarian effort, saw that the boxes arrived from his home state and contacted the KAH office with the information and pictures of the food drop.
